What is the Community Advice Bureau?
The CAB is an information and referral service offering free, confidential and impartial help and advice on any subject related to living and working in Hong Kong. It is a registered charity reliant on donations to provide vital services to the community.

How are we organized?
The CAB is administered by an independent council and is staffed by a team of experienced volunteers who answer questions over the telephone or by email. A referral service is provided for queries requiring professional, legal, medical or psychological advice. We also have a volunteer team who maintain our database.

Donations
As a registered charity we are completely reliant on fundraising and donations from the public to finance our overheads. All staff are volunteers who give of their time freely to serve the wider community.
If you would like to make a donation please transfer the amount into our account HSBC - 002-697647 -001, or send a crossed cheque made payable to "The Community Advice Bureau" and address it to: The Director, Community Advice Bureau, 1201A Hing Wai Building, 36 Queen's Road, Central, HK. A receipt will be sent if required. All donations over the value of HK$100 are tax deductable in Hong Kong.

Volunteers needed
If you have been resident in Hong Kong for two years or more and would like to become part of the CAB telephone team, or if you have computer skills and would like to become part of the inputting team, please fill in our volunteer application form and send it back to us.
In an effort to broaden the scope of our service, we are not only looking for native English speakers but also bilingual (English/Cantonese) and trilingual (English/Cantonese/Mandarin) volunteers.

Settling into Hong Kong Booklet
The CAB publishes a free booklet called Settling into Hong Kong which is sponsored by ParknShop. This is a handy publication covering a host of useful topics for newcomers to Hong Kong. Call the CAB for copies. Alternatively read or download it from this site. For bulk orders there will be a nominal charge.
